Winter Wardrobes

17/09/13

It seems that Autumn has truly arrived – the boots are out, jackets are on and umbrellas are at the ready. The shops have had the start of their Autumn/ Winter collections in for over a month now, but they had struggled to entice too many buyers because of the lovely late summer sunshine that we had.

In the UK we really do have that switch from Summer wardrobe to Winter wardrobe, our weather pretty much makes it a necessity. However do we have to let the season wholly dictate our wardrobe? It is tempting; the thought of wrapping up in snug jumpers, thick scarves, fluffy gloves and cosy boots can be comforting but unfortunately not always appropriate! Dressing for winter almost seems harder, trying to balance looking good with keeping warm and dry tends to involve more thought than looks good and staying cool in the summer.

As a result what many women tend to revert to is the winter uniform of long boots with jeans/leggings and jumper on the top. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this look but with six months of Autumn/Winter ahead it can be difficult to look different throughout the season and indeed different from everyone else.

I think the most important thing to remember when digging out your winter staples is to retain your individuality. It may be that wrapping up and layering up is essential, but always keep in mind what makes you, YOU! Add a splash of colour or pattern or flair to show your individuality with
